When she was tied into a bag and put on the back of a motorcycle, the gander tried desperately to free her.
He honked and cried out for her, his best friend, his soulmate, but, powerless against humans, he could only watch helplessly and cry out as she was driven off into the distance.
It was clear to all that he was heartbroken.

Unfortunately, most of us are too self absorbed to see the suffering in other humans, much less the non-humans who suffer immeasurably at our hands. Just to satisfy our taste buds, our sense of fashion (fur/leather), we’re perfectly willing to allow them to suffer and be killed, by the billions. We must change our way of thinking, that the planet and all living beings have no other reason than to serve us. That wrong thinking if continued will doom us all. This has been my lifelong concern, and for the last decade, seeing how destructive the ivory and rhino trades have been (now big cats bones), it’s been depressing to say the least. Fortunately, there’s a light, albeit very dim, at the end of the tunnel. The global awareness seems to be expanding. I know I’m preaching to a choir here, but it’s worth saying again. Each of us should do everything we can to push the message of conservation, of environmentalism and of empathy and compassion for the weak, small and voiceless.
