“You define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script.”
— Oprah Winfrey
Life often ends being a set of checklists. You are thought to be successful if you tick society’s boxes. Good grades, good college, good job, the perfect house, the perfect partner, the perfect child, just a ”perfect” life all round. We keep comparing ourselves to those around us. Our success seems to have less meaning if someone else is apparently more successful.
What we need to realize is that we have the power to define our own life, our own successes. Rather than looking through the mirror of envy if we looked into the mirror of self-reflection, we might, perhaps, find the courage to write our own script rather than act our someone else’s.
